Hello! I’m Shea; a fitness instructor, beer brewer and lover; cat cuddler, and real estate appraiser who wanted a way to turn fitness into a fun social experience. I discovered a love of Pilates when I became certified in the POP Pilates program. I really wanted a way to get it out of the gym and make the class more than just a workout. Over a beer or two at a local brewery, the idea for Pilates & Pints was born. At that time I had no idea that the concept already existed with Yoga in the brewery. After a little research I discovered no Pilates in the brewery could be found in my corner of the Pacific Northwest.
My husband and I belong to the North Seattle Brewers homebrew club, and our fellow member Barry Chan had recently opened a brewery. His was the first brewery I reached out to, and he was good enough to give me a chance! We had our first class at Lucky Envelope Brewing in Ballard in September of 2016. After a certain amount of growing pains, I felt ready to expand. Barry introduced me to Frank Lawrence & Jeff Howell of Counterbalance Brewing in Georgetown. We had our first class at Counterbalance in January of 2017.
This has been an amazing experience and such a learning opportunity. This is my first time owning a business, and it has been far from boring! I absolutely love bringing Pilates to the community. We have such a fun time during class, but what is even better is the friendships that have been made through Pilates & Pints! I’ve had many new to town participants that took a chance and came to the class solo, only to leave with a new friend or two. It has also been a great way for old friends to reconnect.
I’m looking forward to continuing to grow the Pilates & Pints events and bringing the community new and exciting Pilates based workouts, and of course, introducing them to some of the best beer the Pacific Northwest has to offer!
Pilates & Pints brings fitness and beer together for an unforgettable social experience. Enjoy a full-body, mat-based, all-levels workout and follow it up with an incredible craft beer from some of the Pacific Northwest’s best breweries.
